Mark Henry Phillips is a reporter, composer, producer, and sound designer based in Brooklyn and Vermont. His work spans film and television scoring, original music for advertising, and the production of award-winning podcasts.
Phillips began his career as a reporter and producer for On the Media, Radiolab, Studio 360, and All Things Considered. He reported stories on technology, culture and science including a piece in 2010 on the machine learning and language models that foreshadowed today's AI.
Phillips was intimately involved in the podcast boom that brought the medium into the mainstream. He scored and mixed every episode of the first season of Serial as well as Gimlet's Startup. He recorded, edited, sound designed and scored Gimlet's hit audio fiction series Homecoming. Mark directs and scores audio dramas for Audible, Marvel and renowned authors. He is the founder of Windhill Studios.
